On November 1st I chose to become a lacto ovo vegetarian for the whole month of November. Day 18 of no meat and I don’t really miss it at all and for the most part people have been pretty okay with the whole thing. I do get the occasional joke and tease from friends, but mostly I feel great. Once day 30 comes I will decide if this is the life for me. Oh and don’t worry I eat balanced meals and get the necessary protein for my diet.

I’ve also been making some art, gearing up for Christmas. I think people will appreciate handmade things more than store bought goods. So we’re just gonna go with it. Still working on building inventory for my TBA gallery for next fall. So far I’ve got about 20 paintings, screen prints, etc. I’ve taken a month off in total of screen printing and now feel brave enough to try again, so wish me luck!

M.I.A. vs. Gaga.

This is a bunch of bull because the two artists have nothing in common musically and yet M.I.A. is calling Lady Gaga a mimic of Madonna, Grace Jones, Bowie, and of herself. Now if you were as old as the Earth, for argument’s sake, you would clearly recognize that there have been dozens of mimics throughout history. Madonna is not the first to do anything, Grace Jones isn’t the first weird performance artist, and so on. The expression is, “it’s all been done.” All songs sound the same, all notes have been played, all stories have been told. What is different and fascinating as we evolve as artists and human beings is the retelling of that same old story and the reinvention of the same song and dance. If you seek originality you are going to have to leave because we are all pretty monotonous on planet Earth. In short M.I.A. there is nothing new about you and your little bubble you live in.

Grace Jones Vs. Lady Gaga

This story annoys me to no end. In essence Grace Jones claims that it “pisses” her off that Lady Gaga is copying her style or whatever. Let me tell you something Grace Jones being weird and artistic has been done over a thousand and one ways. You are no doubt an amazing performance artist, but you and Lady Gaga are two different breeds. Gaga may be inspired by your looks but I know that all of those outfits you’ve worn throughout the years were inspired by someone or something as well. You, Grace Jones, are not original but I appreciate your weirdness because quite frankly you are super creepy and it’s growing on me. See her video:

Christina Aguilera Copies Gaga and Madonna

Apparently you all have forgotten that Christina Aguilera does not need computers to enhance her voice. She does not need little monsters. And she does not need to be accused of being irrelevant. Her voice will stand the test of time and her vocal ability is much more vast than Lady Gaga’s and Madonna’s combined. The thing that really ticks me off is that if any woman or man wants to be provocative you are instantly compared to Lady Gaga. What the hell? If you read this blog, you know I would die for Gaga, but seriously? The world did exist before Stefani Germanotta found her Gaga. And now that Christina is back she’s accused of being like Lady Gaga. I don’t know if you know this but Gaga and Madonna were not the first women to don a dominatrix’s outfit or the first to experiment with one’s sexuality, again it’s all been done before. Appreciate the voice that is Christina, apparently you forgot that once upon a time she ruled the land. I will not deny that Xtina is paying homage to Madonna’s Express Yourself music video, but again that hair do was worn before Madonna and that style is circa Great Depression, not circa Madonna. Oh and did you know that dominatrix’s have been around for years? Check out a picture from the 1920s, now who is copying who?

I see three loving couples posing on a beach or something. What I do not see is the end of the world, which apparently OneMillionMoms.com would disagree. I don’t think that an Armani Exchange ad is going to ruin the nation or cause five year old’s emotional distress. Further more the ad that pictures two scantily clad homosexual couples(the problem) and one scantily clad heterosexual couple are going to cause a ruckus. For instance the OneMillionMommies take issue with the “scantily dressed models”, “threesomes”, and of course the evil “same-sex couples”. Apparently sex is so icky to OneMillionMoms.com that they have to replace all the E’s in the word “sex” with asterisks because they live in circa 1950.

What irritates me is that the ad is called “Share The Love” and organizations like this do not understand what love is. I guess same-sex couples only have sex in their opinion. Which is entirely naive of them to think because let’s face it that’s the real reason for the uproar:

Sex. They look at two men in an embrace and it must mean the two men are going to do something sexual after the embrace. Tell me OneMillionMommies when you embrace your child or embrace your husband before they go to work/school does that mean that you want to have sex with them? I would doubt you want to have sex with your husband after every kiss because you know that a successful loving relationship is not based on sexual relations. And I damn well know you would not have sex with a child!

The whole issue just boils down to sex and the worries heterosexual couples have when their child see’s an ad like this of a Tylenol Ad:

Ad reads: “His backache is keeping him up.” “His boyfriend’s backache is keeping him up.” Two men laying in a bed, nothing happening.

Will this scar a child? Have you ever been a child and ran into a room to see your two heterosexual parents (lying naked under the sheets) sitting and talking before the morning coffee? No emotional scars. There is nothing sexual about this until it is attached to that of an adult who is specifically recalling or imagining things with their sexually repressed and dirty mind. Adults have sex. Children play with toys. Adults have developed fantasies, sometimes sexual. Children have undeveloped fantasies about being in a circus.

How do you explain straight crushes between two heterosexual five year olds? Simple: This girl likes that boy. How do I explain homosexuality to my child? Simple: This boy likes that boy. There is nothing sexual going on in a child’s mind.

It disgusts me that people feel that a shirtless woman or shirtless man is considered sexual. We are born innocent and the repressed adults are those who have the biggest impression on the innocent. Why do you think pornography exists? Two reasons curiosity and raging hormones from what your significant other refused to try with you. Adult fantasy, nothing more. (That is a whole other subject, I’m not getting into!)

The point is being gay is not about getting it up the ass! That’s what these sexually repressed Mommies and other affiliates have going on deep in their REPRESSED minds. They are afraid of the unknown or misinformed and are at some points curious: “what’s it like?”

What is like being in a honest and committed relationship with a man? It’s wonderful. It has it’s ups and downs like all relationships. It’s this great friendship where you can share all yourself with another person. It’s not at all different than being in a heterosexual relationship. You share responsibilities, pay the bills, and try your best at carving out your own dreams.

There is no difference between gay or straight relationships. Sex is not a relationship. Sex is an extra-curricular that makes your brain get all out of whack and then there’s an explosion at the end. But sex can also be known as making love. You are sharing the most personal part of your being with another person and for a moment two become one. It is not this dirty thing that people make it out to be. If you ask me, sex is a great thing but it’s not what makes me excited to come home to my fiancé every night. Every night going home is like going to see an old friend that you can’t wait to catch up with after all these years. That’s what sharing love is like for me.

All in all there are all these groups spreading hate. Shouldn’t there be an active counteracting group out there who is just as active? And I don’t mean GLAAD or all of those GSAs out there. I mean someone who is telling these ladies and Fred Phelps what’s wrong with their organizations, since they have no problem doing the same to us and ours. Any volunteers?
