The Joey Factory

It’s been a year since I found a way to submit my song If U Luv Me (Google Me) on iTunes. It was fairly simple to do, but selling it, has been a task in itself. Let’s just say it’s not a popular song on the radio and wasn’t written for that intention. Why was it written? Self love, self promotion, and to satire pop culture and the Gossip Queen himself Perez Hilton. It’s had some laughs and it’s had it’s criticisms, but all in all, it’s just a fun silly song.

When I started this blog last year I was determined to “dethrone” and conquer Perez Hilton’s spot in Pop culture because I was jealous. To be honest, I don’t want his job and I don’t want to spout like opinions and then get myself in trouble with The Black Eyed Peas. I am about drama, but I’m not about being the one to cause the drama. I do not renounce my opinion that I think Perez was in the wrong for calling will.i.am gay. That whole Toronto club situation and the way all parties handled it was wrong. But I’m over it.

What does that mean for Google Me? Nothing, really. I still feel strongly that it is a fun song, is it a hit sensation? No, and it never has to be because I made it for me. I think it’s funny and absurd and weird and it holds a special place in my heart. Above all I love the music video. As of today it’s been viewed 26,000 times and that’s an accomplishment for a non-celebrity status, but seriously make me famous! LOL!

Next week I’m diving into my new video research project: MAKE ME FAMOUS(my new YouTube show) Let’s just say it’s going to be lots and lots of fun!

In other news I’m trying very hard to get more hits on my Google Me music video. It’s been three weeks and I’m at 287 views! So it is the beginning of week three and I believe I can strive for 100 views a week. So far I’m accomplishing that meager goal of 100 hits a week!

Blah blah blah! I’d love to sit here and tell you my sob story, but I’m not in the mood to cry about it. It is, however, ridiculous that my song has been on iTunes since July and has only one review! What gives? Answer that yourself by clicking here: REVIEW THIS SONG. I appreciate positive and negative feedback alike, how else does one improve?

Now that I’ve put myself out there on YouTube and my song If U Luv Me(Google Me) I of course must deal with all the excitement that comes with it. Pictured below is my first negative comment. I welcome both the positive and the negative because it helps me grow as an artist.

I never said that I was a musician. I am not a musician, I’m an artist. There is a big difference.

A musician is a fucking genius who knows how to read, perform, and write music. Such geniuses include: Bob Dylan, The Beatles, etc.

An artist is someone who provides the vocals and may or may not come up with a melody and or lyric for the song, but does not have to know how to write a song. Artists like Britney Spears and Diana Ross have someone come in to write for them.

I will not let this comment or any other negative comment destroy my belief: I love my song. I think it’s funny, mostly because I think my rapping is awful, but at least it’s my voice and not this Auto Tune crap. “If you love me, then google me. If you hate me, then google me…”

So it may have been a bit premature, but I have finished my song to my liking. I released into the wild called Myspace. It is now floating around and playing, if you dare to listen. It’s very scary that I did it all so fast. But I had listened to the song over and over and decided that it was time. Pretty much after I rerecorded all the vocals with my new Shure SM57 microphone, I was finished. I had some tinkering to do as far as volumes and mixing and I had to make my bridge more fun to listen to.

But all in all it’s a first good song. Is it great? That’s really up to the listener. In my humble opinion I enjoy listening to it because it makes me laugh. This song of course is a serious/funny song. I mean what I say, but at the same time I’m the class clown just trying to make you laugh.

Nothing like a call to action song! Tell people what do and put some catchy spelling in there too. I’m very excited to make my low budget music video, if anyone knows a farmer with some cows let me know! I need to put a cow in this video somehow. Last night I had so much trouble falling asleep because I was fantasizing about my music video! I promise it to be funny and I’ve gotta get to work on it pretty soon.

Finally it has been done. When I am bored or when I am not bored, it doesn’t really matter, I Google Image myself. I like to see myself at the top of the list and well, for a while here I wasn’t! It angered me so much. When I Google: JOEY BROYLES, I expect Joey not Joe Broyles from Ohio who looks like my father as a teenager. Is it possible that my Dad has another kid floating around competing with me on Google Images? Probably not, but the resemblance is a little more than uncanny. Anyways I fixed this problem with posting a bunch of pictures of myself and making damn sure to name them each JoeyBroyles_001.jpg, etc. Here are my results:

I’d like to thank Google for creating a new way for one to be vain. I’m definitely happy with the results and will have to stay on top of this, so it doesn’t happen again. The first three images were all mine and that makes me super happy.

In other news Danny and I had a relaxing Easter Sunday. Sometimes you just need to get away from family and make time for yourselves. So we did just that. We spent time with each other! We slept until 10am and then rolled out of bed. I showered and checked my Facebook and Twitter, such addictions! Then we took off to see Adventureland!

I loved it! It was a great movie set in the 80s. One of the greatest decades to do movies in. In fact I don’t think one understands a decade until it has passed and taken time to age. Decades are like wine, not to be appreciated until after they’ve aged. Never mind that I hate all wine! On with the show, Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg are beautiful and amazing and it really had everything you wanted in a movie. So now of course I’m dying to have the soundtrack, but more importantly I want a Games T-shirt from Adventureland! I’ll wait a few weeks to see if Target is cool enough to carry such a shirt and if not I’ll be on the internet searching until I find the exact one.

After the movie we went downtown Madison and toured the Capitol ourselves. Just looking at the pretty insides of the marble beauty. We were there until 4, when they close. We then walked State Street just window shopping and getting exercise. We stopped at the Exclusive Company and I totally wanted all the Melrose Place DVDs, but I guess I’ll start asking for those for my birthday and Christmas.

State Street grew tired of us, so we left and went out to eat at Perkin’s. Where I’m pretty sure our waitress forget to suggest pie, which means we could have collected free pie, oh well I was full anyway. Especially with all this Easter candy, everywhere! I bought way too much, oh well, sweet tooth.

When we got home we just sort of chilled and have been doing our own thing. Of course every so often we bug each other with little fun tid bits of information. But you do need space in a relationship, peeps! Anyhow I’ve been editing Shanikwa’s website and now it’s done. Here’s a screen shot of it’s new beauty, which includes an all new bio!

F.Y.I. Gossip Girl fans, the Easter Bunny brought me Edward Cullen pins and Gossip Girl the Board Game! I played against Danny tonight and finally I beat him. Ha! HA! Ha! I feel as giddy as a school girl! That’s right a school girl. Ain’t no shame! Bitch please! Well I’ve got to start working on this Shanikwa song I’m writing, so later!
